Laser
vision correction (LVC) is a procedure that improves
vision by using a laser to permanently change the shape
of the cornea. Often referred to as LASIK, or Laser in-Situ Keratomileusis, utilizes an
excimer laser to reshape the corneal tissue under a
protective flap of the cornea. The excimer laser is a
‘cool’ laser and does not cause thermal damage to the
surrounding tissue. This, combined with its
computer-controlled accuracy allows the doctor to
deliver consistent and predictable results in treating
short sightedness, long sightedness and astigmatism.
