Dr.VP Lai completed his basic medical degree at University Sains Malaysia in 1997. He was the Medical Officer in Ophthalmology Department at Mentakab from 1998 until 2000. He did his post-graduate training in Ophthalmology at the University of Malaya from 2000 until 2004 and obtained the Master in Ophthalmology from the University of Malaya. Dr. Lai is the Member of the Malaysian Medical Association and the Malaysian Ophthalmic Society. He has been gazetted as a specialist. Dr. Lai provides full medical, surgical and optical eye care including comprehensive eye examination, major and minor eye surgeries and, glasses or contact lens correction for refractive error. His special interest is in Paediatric Ophthalmology in which he performs, from eye assessment to providing medical and optical eye care to children. Dr. Lai is actively involved in continuing medical education for paramedic. He had lectured post basic ophthalmic courses in Kuala Lumpur Hospital, Kuala Lumpur Nursing College and Kuala Lumpur Community Nurse College. He also participated in many community eye screening programs, eg. Lion Eye Camp in Raub and Jerantut, eye screening programs at School for the Blind in Termerloh, Lions Club and Rotary Club Health Screening at many establishments and conducted eye assessment at Clinic for Senior Citizen in Karak, Pahang.
